In commemoration of the release of “Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version”, Fender has announced the release of their “2020 Evangelion Asuka Telecaster”. Fender Music has announced that a limited production model featuring Asuka and other symbolic features of Evangelion will go on sale mid-July.

The Fender X Asuka Telecaster project started back in 2013. In commemoration of the final, long awaited movie “Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version” will be made in Japan and have a limited release in 2020.

This model has Asuka and other Evangelion symbolic features. The artwork is done by Mr. Kazuya Tsurumaki, who is directing the movie. A certificate with Asuka in her plug suit holding the telecaster is included.

The color of the body is based on the color of Asuka’s suit and the back has black parallel lines. The pickguard features a red, green and black color scheme. As for the Synthetic Red Bone nut, there will be a special product that will resemble her hair pieces. Also, the 12th fretboard part of this model is equipped with an inlay of Unit 2. You can really get a feel for Asuka’s world through this instrument.

▲ The pickup uses Alumitone Humbucker (bridge) and Alumitone Single-Coil (neck). It has a 3-position pickup switch, master volume, and master tone knob.

The pickup uses an aluminum tone with a mechanical look. It will produce a clear sound even on low, but those who enjoy a heavier sound also like this.

The parts are unified with a solid matte black, and the neck plate features the NERV logo and a 3 digit number. That number is also on the certificate. The body is Alder, the neck is Maple, and the fingerboard is Rosewood. It comes with an ABS Molded hard case that has a sturdy exterior, suitable for transportation. A NERV logo sticker is included for the hard case.

In addition, in the Fender Custom Shop which manufactures the highest line of fenders, there is a one of a kind “Asuka Telecaster Type 00”. It is handmade by master builder Dale Wilson. For additional information, visit the official Fender website.

The 2020 Evangelion Asuka Telecaster comes with an ABS Molded hard case, original certificate with graphic drawn by Kazuya Tsurumaki, special NERV logo sticker for the hard case. And it retails for 250,000 yen (excluding tax) ($2,338).
